Multilingualism Day 2018: Let`s talk
This is your chance to peek behind the curtain and see how the European Parliament works in 24 languages. On 29 September 2018, from 10:00 to 18:00, take part in activities and talks to find out what it’s like to work with language as your main tool and how you can turn language into your career.
On Multilingualism Day you’ll have the chance to meet European Parliament interpreters and translators, get a glimpse into their work and discover the Hemicycle plenary chamber itself.
Multilingualism ensures that all EU citizens can follow the work of their democratic representatives in the world’s most multilingual parliament in their own language.
Linguistic and cultural diversity is one of Europe’s strengths and is woven into the EU Treaties as a core value. As the linguist and philosopher Umberto Eco said, ‘the language of Europe is translation’. Multilingualism Day is your chance to see this language in action.
